For a woman, finding the perfect hairdresser is like discovering God. To a man, finding a perfect hairdresser is like discovering Love Potion #9.
When we put our hair into the hands of a hairdresser, we are putting our self-esteem and our overall look into a very dangerous area. Come away with a great cut, color or perm and you will walk ten feet tall and turn heads along the way. Come away with a bad one, and you scuttle home to find a baseball cap and wonder how long you can hide from the outside world. Finding the perfect hairdresser is important.
While it’s important to find the right hairdresser, the actual task of finding a great hairdresser is not as easy as it sounds, but we have a few tips for you.
The best place to start looking for the perfect hairdresser isn’t in a salon. It’s on the street. If you see someone who has a great hairstyle, ask them who did it for them. Don’t be shy, they will feel flattered and you will be a step closer to finding your hairdresser.
The first time you go to a new hairdresser, don’t get the full works done. Just get a shampoo, trim and blow-dry. See how your hairdresser treats you. Does his personality clash with yours? Does her hair look good? Did the trim turn out good? All of these things are important. You want to be able to get along with your hairdresser. How well a hairdresser cares for his or her hair is a big indicator on how well they will care for yours. And most importantly, if the trim turns out badly, you know you don’t want to trust that hairdresser with something more important.
Never switch hairdressers right before a big event. You need time for you and your hairdresser to discuss what’s best for your hair. Look for a new hairdresser at least 3 months before a major event.
Don’t expect your hairdresser to be a mind reader too. Let your hairdresser know what you like. The best way to do this is collect pictures of hair styles that you do and don’t like and then give them too your hairdresser. Then the two of you can discuss what aspects of the hairstyles you like and dislike.
And last but not least, listen to what your hairdresser will know what looks best on you. If you force your hairdresser to style your hair in a way that wouldn’t look good on you, you won’t be happy with the results no matter how good your hairdresser is.
If you follow these few tips, you will find the perfect hairdresser and walk away looking absolutely perfect.
