Making roasted garlic is a very simple thing. Not only is roasting garlic easy, it is delicious. By roasting the garlic, the flavor is mellowed and sweetened. After being roasted, the garlic is soft and spreadable, so can be used either as a spread for toast and crackers, or as a wonderful addition to a great many recipes.
To roast garlic, all you need to do it cut a garlic head in half so that each of the cloves is cut in two. Drizzle the two halves with olive oil and then wrap in aluminum foil. Place in the oven and roast at 375F for about 45 minutes. The garlic cloves should be soft and golden brown when done roasting. Roasted garlic can be cooked in a large quantity and then stored for future use. Roast the garlic and then place the roasted cloves in an airtight container. Pour a few tablespoons of olive oil over the roasted garlic and refrigerate.
After you have tried roasted garlic as a spread, try adding it to a few other recipes. Use roasted garlic as a pizza topping, add it into your favorite pasta sauce or mix in with your mashed potatoes. Try using roasted garlic in as a substitute in any recipe that calls for raw garlic.
