How to make a valentine

Learn a little about How to make a valentine...

What can be better than getting a valentine on Valentine’s Day? Getting a handmade valentine! There isn’t a better way to make a person feel special than to get a card made especially for them.

How do you make a valentine? Well, there are as many ways to make a valentine, as there are ways to say I love you. But, we will go over a poetic valentine here.

Many people opt for the decorated love poem. Ideally, you should write a poem yourself. Don’t worry about whether the poem is up to poet level. This is for your sweetie and whatever you write will make your sweetie happy. For some pointers, see our article on tips for writing a love poem. But if you feel a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of writing a poem, you can always refer back to the professionals. Take a look at www.lovepoetry.com for the best love poetry.

After you have written or chosen the poem, use your computer to print it out on a nice piece of paper. You can get quality paper at your local Kinko’s for only a few cents a sheet. Print your poem out on the paper but make sure you leave a little bit of room at the top and bottom for decoration.

Use a nice font. If you don’t have a font you like, go to www.1001freefonts.com to go through thousands of free fonts to find just the right one.

Once you have printed your poem, you need to decorate it. Head to your local craft store to pick up a few supplies. A wander through the craft store will bring forth a wealth of ideas. Feathers, rhinestones, lace, ink stamps and so much more. Let your imagination run wild!

Bring home the supplies you have chosen and get to work decorating your valentine poem. Again, remember, this is for your sweetheart, don’t panic if your efforts don’t produce the greatest masterpiece. It will be the thought that counts not the style. Besides, if you wanted perfect, you would have gone out and bought a Hallmark. But think to yourself, would your one and only keep a Hallmark till the day they die? Probably not. I guarantee, they will keep this.

Once you have finished your valentine, you are technically finished. You can present it on Valentine’s day and be done BUT… wait there is something more you can do.

Now, this next thing is a bit risky, just because of the timing. Your Valentine’s might arrive a day or two too early or late, but for the effect, you might think it is worth it.

Did you know that you can have a letter postmarked from any city in the US for free? Did you know that there are cities in the US called Kissimmee, FL; Valentine, NE; Loving, NM; Intercourse, PA; Climax, MI; Loveland, OH; Romance, AR. Wouldn’t it be great if your honey got their valentine in an envelope postmarked from one of these cities?

It’s very simple to do. Put your valentine into an envelope addressed to your sweetheart. Put the proper postage on it. Take that envelope and put it in an even bigger envelope with a letter to the postmaster asking them to put you letter in the mail. Address the envelope to Postmaster and then the city, state and zip. Here are the cities, states and zips for the listed romantically named cities.

Kissimmee, FL 34741
Valentine, NE 69201
Loving, NM 88256
Intercourse, PA 17534
French Lick, IN 47432
Climax, MI 49034
Loveland, OH 45111

Pick one appropriate to your valentine and relationship level, (hint, sending a card from Intercourse, PA to someone with whom you have not had intercourse with will probably not go over well) and use it to address the envelope that’s going to the postmaster.

You will probably want to mail it out about a week before Valentine’s day. If it arrives early, no harm done. A day or two late, well, just tell you honey to keep an eye out for a letter from a very special place.

However you do your valentine, it’s a sure thing that if it’s hand made, your loved one will feel more loved than ever before.
